Softball Game Preview: Southern Tornadoes vs. Eastern Eagles

The Southern Tornadoes will challenge the Eastern Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Southern knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Eastern likes a good challenge.

Southern came out on top against Gallia Academy on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fourth inning. The Tornadoes were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Blue Devils. The Tornadoes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by seven runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, Eastern unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of River Valley.

Ashlynn Thomas 2027 was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Aedre Ault 2028, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one triple.

Southern's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.7 runs over those games. As for Eastern, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-3.

Southern came out on top in a nail-biter against Eastern when the teams last played back in May of 2025, sneaking past 7-6. Do the Tornadoes have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
