Baseball Game Preview: Ellis Railroaders vs. Scott Beavers

The Ellis Railroaders will square off against the Scott Beavers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Ellis' favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Scott has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.

15 must be Ellis' lucky number: they beat Skyline with that score not once but twice on Tuesday. The Railroaders never let the Thunderbirds get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory. Considering the Railroaders have won nine matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Austin Lopeman was incredible, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Chance Jimenez, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Ellis was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are 10-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, Scott fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Goodland on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Cowboys by a score of 12-11. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Ellis' win bumped their record up to 11-7. As for Scott, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.
