Softball Recap: Saturday's Win Is Crockett County's Fifth in Last Six Outings

Crockett County's game on Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Soddy Daisy Trojans a 4-0 shutout. For the Cavaliers, this counts as revenge for the 3-2 win the Trojans walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2023.

The result came thanks to Anna Stallings's shutout, as she gave up just four hits. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single earned run, the first time she has blanked an opponent over her last eight matchups.

On the hitting side, Crockett County let Wesley Thornton and Piper Smith run wild. Thornton scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Smith scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Crockett County has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. This is the second loss in a row for Soddy Daisy and nudges their season record down to 12-8-1.

Crockett County has already played their next game, a 13-3 win against Chester County on the 31st. As for Soddy Daisy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 2-1 loss against Floyd Central on the 29th.
