Volleyball Recap: Loveland Classical Takes a Loss

If Loveland Classical was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Poudre Community Academy on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Lions fell 3-1 to the Ascent Classical Academy Guardians on Wednesday. The Lions were not able to make up for their defeat to the Guardians from their previous meeting back in November of 2024.

Loveland Classical started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 22-25, 25-21, 25-11, 25-17.

Keira Doan paced Loveland Classical's offense, picking up 14 kills. Doan really made an impact as she also led the team in assists with 12. Finally, Natalie Ruppert kept Loveland Classical's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

Loveland Classical's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 5-9. As for Ascent Classical Academy, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-3.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Loveland Classical is set to face off against their familiar foe William Smith at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Ascent Classical Academy will challenge rival Nederland at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
