Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Moriah). They blew past the Northern Adirondack Bobcats 21-2 on Wednesday. With that victory, the Vikings brought their scoring average up to 7.1 runs per game.
Joe Pelkey made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his six plate appearances with three runs and three RBI. Moriah is undefeated when Pelkey posts two or more runs, but 2-6 otherwise.
In other batting news, Jacob Mascarenas was incredible, going 4-for-6 with three runs and four RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Billy Orr also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Moriah was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northern Adirondack only posted a batting average of .208.
The win made it two in a row for Moriah and bumps their season record up to 5-6. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.5 runs over those games. As for Northern Adirondack, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-7.
