Recap: Coxsackie-Athens Riverhawks vs. Rensselaer Rams
Even though the Rensselaer Rams scored an imposing 60 points on Monday, the Coxsackie-Athens Riverhawks still came out on top. Coxsackie-Athens walked away with a 68-60 victory over Rensselaer. Given Coxsackie-Athens' advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 116th, while Rensselaer is ranked 451st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Coxsackie-Athens to victory were Baileigh Briski and Riley Sitcer. Briski dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds, while Sitcer dropped a double-double on 32 points and 13 rebounds. Sitcer is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Reaghan Hellen, who scored ten points along with two blocks.
The win makes it two in a row for Coxsackie-Athens and bumps their season record up to 9-3. As for Rensselaer, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.
Coxsackie-Athens will look to defend their home court on Friday against Rensselaer at 6:30 p.m. Rensselaer is hoping to put an end to an eight-game streak of away losses.
