Recap: Tekoa Academy Knight vs. Veritas Classical Academy Lions
The Tekoa Academy Knight lost against the Veritas Classical Academy Lions last Monday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Tekoa Academy fell just short of Veritas Classical Academy by a score of 45-43. Tekoa Academy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, Tekoa Academy saw an underclassman step up: Nathaniel McCullar almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine steals. That was a full 46.5% of Tekoa Academy's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Braylon Lewis, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Even though they lost, Tekoa Academy were working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Ty Merrill continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Veritas Classical Academy, scoring 24 points. That makes it 12 consecutive games in which Merrill has scored at least a third of Veritas Classical Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Jake Strahan, who scored 12 points.
Tekoa Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Veritas Classical Academy, they pushed their record up to 10-9 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road.
