Baseball Recap: Pierce Takes a Loss

Pierce was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 6-2 to the East Nicolaus Spartans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-0 last Tuesday.

Nathan Gomez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Alex Ramirez also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Pierce's loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for East Nicolaus, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-5.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Pierce will face off against rival Paradise at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, East Nicolaus is set to square off against their familiar foe Willows at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
