It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Nichols can now relate to. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute Marauders on Saturday. The Vikings' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Max Langer was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out eight batters over 6.2 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits (and not a single walk). The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (zero).

On the hitting side, Nichols saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brady Venditti, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Nichols' loss dropped their record down to 15-6. As for St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute, the win got them back to even at 12-12-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Nichols beat the Marauders by a score of 6-3 later that day.
