Baseball Recap: Mcdaniel's Loss Ends Seven-Game Winning Streak at Home

McDaniel dropped their record down to 8-5 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They fell just short of the Cleveland Warriors by a score of 6-4. The Mountain Lions were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Warriors earlier this season, when they won 6-3.

As for Cleveland, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 5-8. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games.

For Cleveland's part, Ezra Oster made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts Oster has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Cleveland is 2-1 when Oster posts three or more hits, but 3-7 otherwise.

In other batting news, Cleveland let Willem Munroe and Quinn Renauer run wild. Munroe went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI, while Renauer went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Those two hits gave Munroe a new career-high.

While McDaniel had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
