With a playoff game on the line, the Escondido Cougars rose to the challenge on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 37-21 victory over Calexico. The win was some much needed relief for Escondido as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.

Escondido can attribute much of their success to Josh Gonzales, who picked up 121 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

Escondido's win bumped their record up to 3-8. As for Calexico, they have yet to win a match at home this season, leaving them with a 5-6 record.

Escondido will head out on the road to face off against Mount Miguel at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mount Miguel will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. Calexico does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
