Softball Recap: Grosse Ile Wins Going Away Against Melvindale

Grosse Ile made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Melvindale, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Red Devils put the hurt on the Cardinals with a sharp 16-5 victory on Friday. For the Red Devils, this counts as revenge for the 11-1 win the Cardinals walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2018.

Cameron Riopelle made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Riopelle was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Grosse Ile got a massive performance out of Molly McNamee, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Marian McCarthy was another key player, going 1-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Grosse Ile has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Grosse Ile will head out to face off against Jefferson at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Melvindale, they are packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will take on Dearborn at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
