Softball Recap: West Geauga's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

West Geauga had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against the Kirtland Hornets on Monday as they made off with a 12-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Wolverines, who have now won three contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

Morgan Atwara was incredible, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Dayana Malone, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

West Geauga always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .607. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

West Geauga's win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-7. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Kirtland, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Geauga will head out to face off against South at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rebels will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Wolverines surely won't give up without a fight. As for Kirtland, they are taking a road trip to take on Crestwood at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Hornets are facing the Red Devils at the right time seeing as the Red Devils are stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
