It was a good run, but Monterey unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They took an 11-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Amarillo Sandies. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Sandies this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 25-2 back in March.

Monterey's defeat dropped their record down to 12-10. As for Amarillo, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 16 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-8-1 record this season.

Coincidentally, Monterey and Amarillo will both be playing Lubbock-Cooper the next time they take the field. The Plainsmen will host the Pirates at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Sandies will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
