4A/3A Southern Carolina recap Sept. 26, 2012
Porter Ridge extended the longest winning streak in 4A/3A Southern Carolina this week by beating Providence Day, 17-7. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
Marvin Ridge took down Northeast Academy 69-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Anson's dynamic duo of Rodrick Evans and Allen Campbell proved tough for East Columbus to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Evans threw for 54 yards and one touchdown and Campbell had 114 yards receiving. Bunyon Tyson helped Anson's passing attack out by catching two balls for 54 yards.
Chris Duffy was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 164 yards on 23 carries as Porter Ridge beat the Gators. Teammate Nick Vagnone added to the ground attack by rushing for 40 yards.
Parkwood's Grey Wyrick and Sam Mobley have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Wyrick has thrown for 866 yards this season, while Mobley, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 22 catches for 469 yards. Blair Hardin's team's Duffy leads the league in rushing yards with 589.
The top two teams in 4A/3A Southern Carolina will face off this week when first place Porter Ridge takes on second place Marvin Ridge. Last week, the Pirates defeated the Chargers, while Marvin Ridge bested the Eagles.
