Football Game Preview: Kenedy Lions vs. Weimar Wildcats

Kenedy is 0-5 against Weimar since November of 2016 but things could change on Friday. The Lions will head out on the road to square off against the Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. Kenedy has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 144 points over their last three matchups.

Kenedy is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Flatonia: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Lions blew the Bulldogs out of the water with a 33-3 final score. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Lions had established a 24-point advantage.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Kenedy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jericho Jackson, who threw for 146 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 passes. The Lions are undefeated when Jackson posts three or more passing touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise. Isiah Morin was in the mix too, providing Kenedy with two TDs.

Meanwhile, Weimar had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 42.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They strolled past the Bulldogs with points to spare, taking the game 21-7. The game was the first time the Wildcats have beaten the Bulldogs on their field since October 4, 2019.

Kenedy's record is now 7-2. As for Weimar, their record now sits at 8-1.

Kenedy was dealt a bruising 56-21 defeat at the hands of Weimar in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
