Montgomery waltzed into their matchup on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Caney Creek Panthers. That's more bragging rights for the Bears, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Delaney Wright paced Montgomery's offense, picking up 13 kills. Wright got some help from Ava Collins and her 27 assists. Collins was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Montgomery's win bumped their record up to 13-5. As for Caney Creek, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-4.

Montgomery and Caney Creek should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. The Bears will take on Splendora at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (111 vs. 755). Meanwhile, Caney Creek (ranked 179th) will meet Lamar (ranked 476th) at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
