Softball Game Preview: Myrtle Beach Seahawks vs. Waccamaw Warriors

After both having extra time off, the Myrtle Beach Seahawks and the Waccamaw Warriors will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Myrtle Beach is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Myrtle Beach's offense. They lost 10-0 to North Myrtle Beach last Wednesday.

Myrtle Beach saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Shianne Needle, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Meanwhile, Waccamaw gave up the first runs last Wednesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They had just enough and edged out Marlboro County 3-2. That's two games straight that the Warriors have won by just one run.

Reese Rutkowski spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits.

The victory made it two in a row for Waccamaw and bumps their season record up to 5-9. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Myrtle Beach, their loss dropped their record down to 4-14.

Myrtle Beach came out on top in a nail-biter against Waccamaw in their previous meeting back in March, sneaking past 12-11. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Seahawks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
