Baseball Recap: Crothersville Find Success

Crothersville got themselves on the board against Cannelton on Saturday, but Cannelton never followed suit. They blew past the Bulldogs 13-0. That's more bragging rights for the Tigers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Josh Reynolds was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out 13 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and eight unearned) runs off one hit. Reynolds was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

In other batting news, Crothersville got a massive performance out of Gage Howard, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those four hits gave Howard a new career-high. Dirk Crater was another key player, going 3-for-5 with five stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI.

Crothersville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .537. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cannelton only posted an OBP of .167.

Crothersville's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Cannelton, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Crothersville wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 13-2 loss against Evansville Bosse on the 19th. As for Cannelton, they are taking a road trip to challenge Perry Central at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
