Recap: St. John's Prep Red Storm vs. Fordham Prep Rams
The St. John's Prep Red Storm's's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. The game between St. John's Prep and Fordham Prep wasn't particularly close, with St. John's Prep falling 71-53. While losing is never fun, St. John's Prep can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 488th, while Fordham Prep is ranked 94th).
Fordham Prep's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Matthew Kapfer, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. The contest was Kapfer's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Will Gregory, who scored 26 points.
St. John's Prep's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-3. As for Fordham Prep, their win bumped their record up to 7-2.
St. John's Prep will be playing in front of their home fans against Moore Catholic at 1:00 p.m. on January 7, 2024. Fordham Prep won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Kennedy Catholic at 3:30 p.m. on December 30th.
