Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Tolleson

Tolleson waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Mesa Jackrabbits as they made off with a 14-1 victory. The Wolverines have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Jackrabbits, too.

ISSAK VALDEZ made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. VALDEZ was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one double. He has become a key player for Tolleson: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 9-11 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on JOSE CORRALES, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. He is becoming a predictor of Tolleson's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 7-11 when he doesn't). ANTHONY OROZCO was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Tolleson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive matchups.

Tolleson now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Mesa, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-17.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tolleson will venture away from home to square off against West Point at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mesa, they will head out to face off against Mountain View at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
