Volleyball Game Preview: Mentor Cardinals vs. Chardon Hilltoppers

Mentor is 0-3 against Chardon since April of 2023 but things could change on Saturday. The Cardinals will be playing at home against the Hilltoppers at 11:00 a.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Mentor barely beat Euclid the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cardinals put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 3-0 win on Thursday. The Cardinals haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Mentor never let Euclid on the board, but things got pretty close in the first set. The final score came out to 25-23, 25-9, 25-21.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Chardon, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They skirted past Independence 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Hilltoppers have posted since April 30, 2024.

Chardon had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 20-25, 18-25, 25-15, 27-25, 15-6.

Mentor's victory bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Chardon, their win bumped their record up to 2-5.
