Baseball Game Preview: Webster County Highlanders vs. Richwood Lumberjacks

The Webster County Highlanders will square off against the Richwood Lumberjacks at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Webster County is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.

Webster County came up short against Calhoun on Monday, falling 13-1.

Webster County saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Greyden Channel, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double and one RBI. Hayden Myers also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Richwood lost 21-4 to Highland on Friday. The Lumberjacks have struggled against the Rams recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Jaden Jantuah led a balanced group of hitters, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-1. Kaden Lane was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Richwood's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Webster County, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Webster County has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Richwood struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Webster County took their win against Richwood when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 22-8 score. Do the Highlanders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lumberjacks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
