The McDonogh Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the Glenelg Country Dragons at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. McDonogh is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
McDonogh will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Monday, then bounced right back against Annapolis Area Christian on Wednesday. McDonogh was the clear victor by a 24-1 margin over Annapolis Area Christian. McDonogh hasn't had any issues with Annapolis Area Christian recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Leo Antwerpen was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because McDonogh is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-4 otherwise. Antwerpen was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, McDonogh got a massive performance out of Andy Lambert, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, six RBI, and four runs. Those six RBI gave Lambert a new career-high. Another player making a difference was William Moore, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, seven RBI, and two runs.
McDonogh lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Glenelg Country was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against Boys Latin, falling 10-0.
McDonogh's record is now 7-4. As for Glenelg Country, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-10.
Glenelg Country's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: McDonogh has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .500. It's a different story for Glenelg Country, though, as they've only averaged .312. Will they be able to contain McDonogh's hitters?
McDonogh came out on top in a nail-biter against Glenelg Country when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 6-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
