Softball Game Preview: Sulligent Blue Devils vs. Lynn Bears

The Sulligent Blue Devils will take on the Lynn Bears at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

On Friday, everything went Sulligent's way against Cordova as Sulligent made off with a 9-1 win.

Ella Wheeler made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. What's more, she gave up only four hits, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kaylee Crawford, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubree Flynn, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1.

Meanwhile, Lynn waltzed into their game on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Phillips a 10-0 shutout. That looming 10-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Lynn yet this season.

Bella Harper was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and five RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Alyssa McKinney was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run.

Lynn lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now launched at least two home runs in three consecutive contests.

Lynn's victory bumped their record up to 6-2-1. As for Sulligent, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Sulligent skirted past Lynn 6-4 in their previous matchup back in March of 2019. Will Sulligent repeat their success, or does Lynn have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
