Soccer Game Preview: Franklin vs. Pebble Hills

The Franklin Cougars will take on the Pebble Hills Spartans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Franklin will bounce into Friday's game after beating Eastlake, who they had gone 1-7 against in their eight prior meetings. While the 2-2 score might suggest a draw, it was Franklin who was credited with the win on Friday. Franklin got it done in the shootout by posting five goals to Eastlake's four. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Cougars' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 127th, while the Falcons are ranked 50th).

Franklin will be up against a hot Pebble Hills team: the squad just extended their winning streak to five. Pebble Hills' defense stepped up to hand Eastlake a 3-0 shutout on Tuesday. Considering the Spartans have won five matchups by more than two goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Pebble Hills pushed their record up to 11-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 25 goals over those five contests. As for Franklin, their victory bumped their record up to 7-4.
