Baseball Recap: McDonald County Comes Up Short

McDonald County had taken Neosho down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Monday. The Mustangs took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wildcats. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Mustangs of the 3-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.

McDonald County saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jake O'Brien, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

This is the second loss in a row for McDonald County and nudges their season record down to 9-14. As for Neosho, their victory bumped their record up to 14-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McDonald County will welcome Nevada at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their 14th straight win, something the Mustangs surely won't give up without a fight. As for Neosho, they will host Parkview at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
