The Lake Oswego Lakers will face off against the West Linn Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
Oregon City hit Lake Oswego with a four-run third inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Lakers fell just short of the Pioneers by a score of 7-6.
Kaiya Carnegie made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, West Linn entered their tilt with Lakeridge on Friday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. They were the clear victors by a 19-3 margin over the Pacers. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won eight games by nine runs or more so far this season.
West Linn also got a great performance from Audrey Tiffany as she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Tiffany has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Meg Allen was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Wolf, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.
West Linn always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .610. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lakeridge only posted an OBP of .238.
West Linn pushed their record up to 16-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Lake Oswego, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season.
Lake Oswego suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to West Linn in their previous matchup last Wednesday. Can the Lakers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
