Basketball Game Preview: Herriman Mustangs vs. Riverton Silverwolves

The Herriman Mustangs are taking a road trip to face off against the Riverton Silverwolves at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Herriman has 12 straight wins, Riverton has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Herriman is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Copper Hills, who was ranked 20th at the time (Herriman was ranked third). Herriman snuck past Copper Hills with a 53-49 victory on Tuesday. The 53-point effort marked the Mustangs' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Meanwhile, Riverton came up short against Corner Canyon on Tuesday and fell 87-78. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (66), the Silverwolves still had to take the loss.

Herriman pushed their record up to 16-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Riverton, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-10.

Herriman was able to grind out a solid victory over Riverton in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, winning 73-63. The rematch might be a little tougher for Herriman since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
