Basketball Recap: Pomona Takes a Loss

Pomona was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were beaten by the Diamond Ranch Panthers 60-16. That's two games in a row now that the Red Devils have lost by exactly 44 points.

Loss or not, Pomona got some senior leadership from Matthew Medina and Carmine Carrillo. Medina posted six points, while Carrillo earned seven points along with six boards and three blocks.

Even though they lost, Pomona smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

Pomona's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Diamond Ranch, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pomona won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Bassett at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Diamond Ranch and Western Christian will round out the year against one another at at 5:00 p.m. on December 26th.
