The Red Rock Scorpions will face off against the Fountain Hills Falcons at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Red Rock comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Red Rock and Scottsdale Preparatory Academy have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Wednesday. The Scorpions came up short against the Spartans, falling 18-6.
Alexis Parra Landaverde made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Nicholas McAtee, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Fountain Hills took on Phoenix Country Day on Saturday. The Falcons were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Eagles. The Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by ten runs or more this season.
JJ Pena looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Fountain Hills got a massive performance out of Jevonte McQuirter, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI McQuirter has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Johnson, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs.
Fountain Hills always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Phoenix Country Day only posted an OBP of .414.
Fountain Hills is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for Red Rock, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-12-1.
Red Rock might still be hurting after the 15-0 loss they got from Fountain Hills in their previous meeting back in March. Will the Scorpions have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
