Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Western Christian). They put the hurt on The Webb Schools Gauls with a sharp 15-2 victory on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Fighting Lancers in their matchups with the Gauls: they've now won eight in a row.

Jackson Thompson tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on James Mack, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Western Christian's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 6-11 when he doesn't). Jacob Casas was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.

Western Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Western Christian's record is now 9-11. As for The Webb Schools, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-13.

Coming up, Western Christian will head out to take on Claremont at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Wolfpack will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Fighting Lancers surely won't give up without a fight. As for The Webb Schools, they will host Capistrano Valley Christian at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
