Softball Recap: Beaverton Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Beaverton dropped their record down to 10-5 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins on the road. They fell 4-1 to the Mountainside Mavericks. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Beavers of the 13-5 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

As for Mountainside, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games.

For Mountainside's part, they got a great performance from Jojo Appling as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Appling has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ainsley Arbow was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.

Looking ahead, Beaverton will take on Aloha at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Beavers are facing the Warriors at the right time seeing as the Warriors are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Mountainside, they will face off against Sunset at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Apollos will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Mavericks surely won't give up without a fight.
