Softball Recap: Harding Academy Takes a Loss

Harding Academy extended their losing streak to six on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 2-7 in the process. They came up short against the University School of Jackson Bruins, falling 15-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Lions of the 16-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2018.

As for University School of Jackson, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6-1 record this season. The result was nothing new for University School of Jackson, who have now won six contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

For University School of Jackson's part, Maddie Polk made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Polk has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Haylen Ayers was incredible, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more RBI the last three times she's played. Kinsley Brady was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

As of now, neither Harding Academy nor University School of Jackson have any future games scheduled.
