Baseball Recap: Devon Prep Comes Up Short

Devon Prep was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Shipley.

Chase Lubker was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (zero). He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

Lubker wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Caleb Flannery, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Devon Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Devon Prep will head out to square off against St. Joseph's Prep at 4:00 p.m. on March 26th. The game will give Devon Prep their first taste of in-conferenceaction this season. As for Shipley, they will be playing at home against Delaware County Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
