Basketball Recap: T.C. Roberson Takes a Loss

T.C. Roberson lost against A.C. Reynolds back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The T.C. Roberson Rams took a hard 71-54 fall against the A.C. Reynolds Rockets. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 324th, while the Rockets are ranked 145th).

When it comes to explaining why T.C. Roberson lost, don't look at Dean Lowe. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double with 14 points and 12 boards. The dominant performance also gave Lowe a new career-high in blocks (five). Julian Gomez also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Declan Brown was his usual excellent self, going 10-for-13 on his way to 25 points and seven steals for A.C. Reynolds. Brown's evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Grant Clayton, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and 15 rebounds.

T.C. Roberson now has a losing record of 11-12. As for A.C. Reynolds, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 15-8 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. T.C. Roberson will take on Brevard at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Brevard will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something T.C. Roberson surely won't give up without a fight. As for A.C. Reynolds, they will square off against McDowell at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (McDowell has won 12 straight at home, while A.C. Reynolds won six straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
