Softball Recap: Elgin Comes Up Short

Elgin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 8-1 to the Fairbanks Panthers. The Comets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2019.

Elgin's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Fairbanks, their win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Elgin will venture away from home to face off against Wynford at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Fairbanks, they will challenge Cedarville at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Indians have averaged an impressive 8.5 runs per game this season.
