Football Game Preview: Grafton Spoilers vs. Thompson Tommies

The Grafton Spoilers will head out to face off against the Thompson Tommies at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Grafton will bounce into Friday's game after beating Harvey/Fessenden-Bowdon, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. The Spoilers secured a 22-18 W over the Hornets on Friday.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Thompson, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They blew past Rugby 54-18 on Friday. Considering the Tommies have won three contests by more than 35 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Grafton better keep an eye on Charlie Yon. He was instrumental in Thompson's win, rushing for 229 yards and one score while picking up 10.4 yards per carry, and also picking up 65 receiving yards. With that strong performance, Yon is now averaging an impressive 114.3 rushing yards per game. Another player making a difference was Gavin Oster, who threw for 185 yards and one touchdown while completing 73.3% of his passes.

Thompson was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 342 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in August of 2024.

Thompson now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Grafton, their record is now 5-1.

Grafton was dealt a bruising 39-6 loss at the hands of Thompson when the teams last played back in August of 2024. Thankfully for the Spoilers, Gavin Krogstad (who rushed for 76 yards and one TD, and also threw for 100 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
