Softball Game Preview: Coal City Coalers vs. Ottawa Pirates

The Coal City Coalers will venture away from home to challenge the Ottawa Pirates at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Coal City has given up an average of 6.7 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Coal City fell victim to Manteno and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Panthers, falling 11-0. The Coalers haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Ottawa, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They came out on top against Rochelle by a score of 7-3 on Wednesday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Pirates as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Ottawa's win bumped their record up to 15-10. As for Coal City, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-10.

Coal City beat Ottawa 11-6 when the teams last played back in April of 2023. Will the Coalers repeat their success, or do the Pirates have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
