Baseball Recap: Von Steuben Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Von Steuben faced off against Lincoln Park on Monday. The Panthers took a 15-10 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lions. Even if the Panthers couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Axel Rivera led a balanced group of hitters, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. Von Steuben is 5-2 when Rivera posts two or more runs, but 4-8-2 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Matteo Banuelos, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Von Steuben now has a losing record of 9-10-2. As for Lincoln Park, they now have a winning record of 11-10.

Looking ahead, Von Steuben will face off against Payton College Prep at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Grizzlies have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.95 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Lincoln Park, they will take on Lane Tech at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
