Baseball Recap: Fostoria Comes Up Short

Fostoria was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the Genoa Area Comets, falling 19-9. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Comets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-0 on Monday.

Mason Cooley was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs. Trent Smith was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Fostoria's defeat dropped their record down to 2-21. As for Genoa Area, their win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-12.

Coming up, Fostoria will face off against Eastwood at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Genoa Area, they will host Elmwood at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Comets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Royals have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season.
