Baseball Game Preview: Beatty Hornets vs. Mountain View Christian Saints

The Beatty Hornets will challenge the Mountain View Christian Saints at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. Beatty will be strutting in after a victory while Mountain View Christian will be coming in after a defeat.

Beatty is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Spring Mountain with a sharp 17-7 win on Tuesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Hornets with their most commanding win of the season.

Cesar Gamboa and Aaron Olmedo did most of the damage at the plate: Gamboa scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Olmedo scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Gamboa also brought in three RBI, which is notable because Beatty is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 1-4 otherwise. Abelino Felix was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Beatty always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .758. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Mountain View Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch last Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against Sandy Valley, falling 19-4.

The victory got Beatty back to even at 4-4. As for Mountain View Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.

Beatty skirted past Mountain View Christian 10-9 when the teams last played back in March of 2023. Will the Hornets repeat their success, or do the Saints have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
