Basketball Preview: Powers Catholic Chargers vs. Grand Blanc Bobcats
Powers Catholic is 0-10 against the Bobcats since January of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Powers Catholic Chargers' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Grand Blanc Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on February 6th. Powers Catholic has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,143 points over their last 16 matches.
In what's become a running theme this season, Powers Catholic gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Midland 88-43 on the road. Given Powers Catholic's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 61st, while the Chemics are ranked 555th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Powers Catholic got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Connor Kelly out in front who scored 17 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Javontae Ross, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and six steals.
Meanwhile, Grand Blanc beat the Cosmos 54-47 on Saturday.
Powers Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 13-3. As for Grand Blanc, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.
Things could have been worse for Powers Catholic, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 72-54 loss to the Bobcats when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can Powers Catholic avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
