Baseball Game Preview: White Plains Tigers vs. Mamaroneck Tigers

White Plains will challenge Mamaroneck at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

White Plains fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Mamaroneck on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of Mamaroneck by a score of 8-7. White Plains' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Gavin Townsend put in work no matter where he played. He pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-6 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Tyler Older was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in four of his six plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Julian Bystricky, who went 2-for-5 with two doubles and one RBI.

The victory was the third in a row for Mamaroneck, bringing their record up to 10-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for White Plains, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5.
