Softball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Edcouch-Elsa

Edcouch-Elsa waltzed into their game on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Porter Cowboys. The result was nothing new for the Yellowjackets, who have now won 14 matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Mila Pedraza made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Taylor Herrera was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Hailey Camacho was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.

Edcouch-Elsa always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Porter only posted an OBP of .318.

Edcouch-Elsa's win bumped their record up to 19-7-2. As for Porter, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 13 of their last 14 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-18 record this season.

Edcouch-Elsa will square off against Pioneer at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Yellowjackets will need to watch out since the Pioneers have now posted at least ten runs in their last three games. Porter does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
