Baseball Game Preview: Linfield Christian Lions vs. Murrieta Mesa Rams

The Linfield Christian Lions will be taking part in a tournament against the Murrieta Mesa Rams at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Linfield Christian 2.7, Murrieta Mesa 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Linfield Christian will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Thursday, then bounced right back against Vista on Monday. The Lions put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 11-5 victory. Considering the Lions have won five contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Murrieta Mesa ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Santana 9-8. Nine seems to be a good number for the Rams as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Morgan Dorlaque looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched.

At the plate, Mason Freedman was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Caleb Wagner, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Murrieta Mesa kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.

Linfield Christian's win bumped their record up to 9-3-1. As for Murrieta Mesa, their victory bumped their record up to 8-1.
