Chavez posted their closest victory since March 19th on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Grant Lancers 3-2. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Lancers: they've now won four in a row.

Joey Uribe was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2. Another player making a difference was Emmanuel Hernandez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Chavez's win bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Grant, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-5.

Looking ahead, Chavez will be playing at home against Gardena at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.81 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Grant, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Arleta at 2:30 p.m. on the 23rd.
