Gulf takes loss despite strong efforts from Tajinae Bonney and Ariana Rodriguez

Recap: Gulf Buccaneers vs. Robinson Knights

The Gulf Buccaneers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 60-27 loss at the hands of Robinson. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Gulf has suffered since November 28, 2023.

Despite the loss, Gulf had strong showings from Ariana Rodriguez, who scored five points along with 16 rebounds and two steals, and Tajinae Bonney, who scored five points along with eight rebounds and eight steals. Rodriguez has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times she's played.

Gulf struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Robinson racked up 16 assists.

Robinson's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jennie Gutman, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 15 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ava Godfrey, who scored 17 points along with six assists and six rebounds.

Gulf has not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season. As for Robinson, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-4.

Gulf and Dunedin will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Robinson on the road again on Tuesday and play against Sumner at 6:30 p.m. on January 16th.
