Baseball Recap: Durant Extends Winning Streak to Four

Durant came tearing into Monday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 6-5 W against the Tipton Tigers. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wildcats have posted against the Tigers since June 22, 2022.

Seamus Devine was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

Devine wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Owen Collier, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Durant's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 9-4. As for Tipton, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.
