Lakewood hasn't had much luck against Rosewood recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Leopards will head out on the road to challenge the Eagles at 6:30 p.m. Lakewood has given up an average of 12.5 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Lakewood came up short against Hobbton on Thursday, falling 14-4. The Leopards have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Kiyah Braxton made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole three bases while going 1-for-2. Another player making a difference was Karizma Freeman, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.
Meanwhile, Rosewood came tearing into Tuesday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 6-3 win over the Rebels.
McCandless St John made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. St John was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hayley Bedford, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Kaitlyn Vernon was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
Rosewood's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.4 runs on average over those games. As for Lakewood, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9-1.
Wednesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Lakewood has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .530. However, it's not like Rosewood struggles in that department as they've averaged .562. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
